UNESCO Heritage site, YangdongVillage, is Korea’s largest traditional village.The village was founded by two families who have lived there for 500 years: the Wolseong “Son” family and the Yeogang “Lee” family.YangdongVillage showcases the traditional culture of the Joseon Dynasty as well as the beautiful natural surroundings. Approximately 160 houses are nestled with the valley. Each year many students and tourist visit the village to take in its wealth of cultural heritage as well as its scenic surroundings.
Gyeongju, which became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000, was the capital of the SillaKingdom, a dynasty that flourished for nearly one thousand years of Korea’s proud five thousand year history.The Silla Dynasty was one of the most developed civilizations in the world during that time period.With 1,000 years of history and a myriad of tombs and ancient relics scattered throughout, it’s no wonder that the city of Gyeongju is known as a “living museum.”The GyeongjuNationMuseum contains 100,000 different relics recovered in and around Gyeongju and 2,500 items on permanent exhibit.
Busan is located on the southeastern coast of the Korean peninsula.The most well known tourist destinations in Busan are HaeundaeBeach, DongbaekseomIsland, TaejongdaeResortPark, and Jagalchi Market.Taejongdae is a park of dense evergreen trees with a view of the fantastic rocky cliffs.From here visitors can see the famous, “Suicide Rock,” a rock cliff 250m above sea level.This observation platform provides the best scenery in Busan, and when the weather is clear, Tsushima in Japan (56km away) can be seen.The walk from the entrance to the lighthouse is fairly long, but visitors can enjoy breathtaking scenery with each step.
